Day 2 – Tbilisi City Tour
You’ll start your day with learning more about the Georgia’s capital, Tbilisi. You’ll be able to visit some of its iconic landmarks, such as a 4th century Narikala Fortress, famous sulfur bath neighborhood Abanotubani, the Freedom Square, the oldest Basilica - Anchiskhati, Metekhi Church, walk on pedestrian bridge called the Peace Bridge, and visit Rike Park. You’ll listen to the history of the city, how it came to be and why it’s called Tbilisi. *Do note that the lunch is not included, but there’s a special offer to try Adjarian cuisine including the famous boat-shaped Khachapuri, borano, sinori and iakhni to name a few; or meals of Racha region including Rachuli lobiani, shkmeruli, ham, and regional khachapuri to name a few.
Day 3 – Tbilisi – Jvari – Svetitskhoveli – Mukhrani (lunch in Mtskheta; tasting mountainous Georgian Dishes ) – driving to Kutaisi and dinner in local restaurant.
From Tbilisi, you’ll continue your way to Mtskheta, the former capital and home to UNESCO World Heritage Site Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and Jvari monastery. This church sits at the top of the hill overlooking Mtskheta and junction of Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers. Jvari Monastery is one of the oldest religious buildings in Georgia.. It is believed that when St. Nino, the evangelist who brought Christianity to the country, made the citizens believe in her religion, King Mirian put a wooden cross here. The name “Jvari” means “cross” in English. Svetitskhoveli Cathedral is one of the most important religious buildings in the country and an architectural masterpiece of Early Middle Ages. After the tour, you’ll have lunch in Mtskheta and taste mountainous Georgian cuisine which includes Khinkali, the meat dumplings, mkhlovana, and kaurma to name a few. Then, you’ll drive to Kutaisi, another former capital and the second biggest city of Georgia. Here, you’ll try the regional - Imeretian cuisine which includes Imeretian Khachapuri, a pizza-like cheese pastry, Satsivi, a meat stew in walnut sauce, and Pkhali, a vegetable with walnut paste to name a few.
Day 4 – Kutaisi – Samegrelo Province – back to Kutaisi (for Lunch cheese Sulguni, Kharcho, Elarji.)
On this day, you’ll have a day trip to Samegrelo region and have a delicious meal at a local restaurant. Megrelian cuisine is known for a wide variety of hot and spicy dishes. The staples of their cuisine include Sulguni cheese, a mozzarella-like cheese, Kharcho, a spicy meat stew, Gebjalia, a cheese appetizer, and Elarji, a corn mill dish with lots of sulguni cheese.
Day 5 – Kutaisi – Tbilisi
On this day you’ll drive back to Tbilisi, but on the way, you’ll stop at Savane village at a local family for lunch. You’ll be able to try Pkhali, chicken on a clay pot, Mchadi, a corn mill bread, and a roasted piglet.
Day 6 – Tbilisi – Bodbe - Sighnaghi – Tbilisi
On your last day to Georgia, you’ll start the day with a drive to Kakheti region to visit its famous town Sighnaghi and Bodbe Monastery. Sighnaghi town, known as the city of love, is a beautiful town with its red rooftops, colorful houses, and narrow cobblestone streets overlooking the picturesque Alazani Valley. Bodbe Monastery is quite close to Sighnaghi, which is the final resting place of St. Nino. For lunch, you’ll visit a local family in Sighnaghi and try the famous grilled meat meal Mtsvadi, Khashlama, a boiled beef dish one of the main staples of Kakhetian cuisine, and learn how to make Georgian walnut and grape juice sweet Churchkhela.
Day 7 - Departure
